About the Event
Why do some people cooperate while others compete? How do nations, businesses—even friends—make tough decisions when outcomes affect everyone involved? The answer lies in a fascinating branch of applied mathematics called Game Theory.
In this dynamic, hands-on workshop, participants will go beyond textbooks and actually play the games that economists, political scientists, and behavioral researchers use to study real-world issues—from climate change to conflict resolution, sustainability to inequality.
Through interactive strategy games, engaging discussions, and mini-lectures, students will learn to:
Understand key game theory concepts like zero-sum vs. non-zero-sum, the tragedy of the commons, and common-pool resources
Analyze famous thought experiments including the Prisoner’s Dilemma, Ultimatum Game, and Dictator Game
Think critically about human behavior, negotiation, ethics, and strategic thinking
